It's been almost a decade since Layla Bean hit it big with her rock band Cast Party. She's gone solo, become a giant pop star, and has achieved a level of fame that most musicians can only dream of. But something's not quite right. In fact, Layla feels that something is majorly wrong.
And now, in front of her peers, the music industry, the millions of people watching live at home... the pop star life that Layla has built for herself suddenly comes crashing down. The anxiety Layla thought she had beat has returned, and she wonders if maybe the image that's been created in her name, isn't the authentic Layla Bean she's always wanted to be.
With a demanding industry pulling the strings, the paparazzi out for blood, and a realization that she's abandoned most everyone that meant something to her, will Layla make it through these trials with her sanity? Can she repair not only her friendships, but also the floundering relationship with her girlfriend Daisy? How will she go on?
It's lonely at the top, especially when it feels like everyone's against you. Will Layla discover the strength she needs to succeed? Or will this be the swan song of her whirlwind career?
Fall Of The Rock Girl A Lesbian Romance Revolving Record Volume 2 Nicolette Dane Books
Love Nicolette Dane and really love this series. I really can't wait to read the next book. One thing to note though, at least in the kindle format I read. There are three parts in the book. Looks like the second part and third part got accidentally mixed up? I don't think a time jump was intentional because it didn't flow well. So for other readers, if part 2 starts with "The oversized SUV" instead of "I opened my eyes" I really recommend you read part 3 then go back to part 2.
Other than that I love Layla Bean and her journey. From a critical perspective of the writing - I wish there was a little more focus with her relationship with Daisy. I would have thought there would have been some conflict given what had happened and Layla's self-analysis. Considering the time jump from the first book I would have liked to have had some memories built into the current storyline. These two are very different to each other in many ways and it would have been good to really get into the bones of what makes them tick together. There was a hint there, but I felt like the dynamic was only explored on a surface level. Hopefully the foundation has been laid and more will come in book 3.
Structurally I do have one tiny gripe with the overall use of italics. It has been there with other stories but it is starting to annoy me. Sometimes it works. Other times I feel like Chandler Bing is being channelled into the story. Sentences flow so much better in my head when it is only used occasionally. It really doesn't work when it is being used a couple of times in a sentence and appears about 10 - 20 times on a page.
But otherwise, I really love this author's work. Even with the above points, I can't wait to read more!

Fall Of The Rock Girl A Lesbian Romance Revolving Record Volume 2 Nicolette Dane Books Reviews
So D has grown on me I like her so much more in this book. Other than that this book is insane with how it can put into words what every single person out there has felt about themselves or their lives at one time. I couldn't put it down! Loved the book, love the series, love love the Author!
I am enjoying this series. I think that Ms. Dane did a good job of fleshing out Layla's character and the turmoil she feels.
I like the way the book ends and I hope it gives a hint about the next part of the story.
I would have given the book five stars if only Ms. Dane would get a good editor to correct typos and grammar errors.
After Miss Bean abandons her bandmates in order to pursue her single career, which leads her to a Grammy award, Layla must deal with the fall out of her success. An anxiety attack while receiving the Grammy is an indicator of how troubled she is over her new position in the music community and her feeling of self worth (or the lack thereof).
You did it again Nicolette! This book was awesome. I read it out of order the 1st day but one I got the email that part 2 and 3 were mixed up I re-read it again. I liked the storyline but was a tad disappointed that we missed 10 years of Layas life snd and her rise to the top. I'm interested in knowing what went down in those 10 years and her break from Cast Party. Overall it was a great read. I'm looking forward to book 3 and hopefully you will continue the series for a few more books..hint hint! On a side note I was surprised that this book didn't have a whole lot of sexy scenes between Layla and Daisy. Those were the highlight of book one. Your storytelling skills are very detailed and vivid and I love them..lol. Bring it on for book 3 please. Great read Nico..xoxo
It was wonderfully written and I love that I am able to feel all the emotions Layla is feeling through this difficult time In her life and career. I found it interesting that I could relate to what she was going through in my own journey, feeling that you are unsure of who you, because you care what other people think of you. It took a while to understand that the only person that matters is yourself. I have enjoyed the journey and can't wait for the next book.
A good second installment in the series. This is one of the better explorations of the impact of anxiety on the life of an otherwise extremely successful person that I have read. Interestingly, I read another book by another author with a similar character at a younger stage in her life WHILE I read this and both were spot on, in my opinion. (I don't suffer from anxiety myself, so much, but I have friends and relatives who do and I'm fairly familiar with what it looks like from the perspective of a very close observer. Both Nicolette and the other author in question know their stuff!) I look forward to the next volume in the story of Layla Bean!
Also, being from Michigan, it is fun to have all of the Detroit area references. (Even if I'm from the Thumb area... That's what people from the Flint area say when they don't want to admit they're from Flint, BTW...)
Wow! I loved this book. I have the upmost respect for an author who can make their reader feel such a range of emotions as Dane can in one book from laughter to sadness and make you think. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and in the email Dane mentions this being a bit darker than her other books. I can say honestly that is the only thing about this book I disagree with, I believe it is real. Even though the story revolves around Layla, the celebrity, and the angst, aniexty and not knowing who she was or where she belonged, we all can experience the same, of course without the notoriety. Dane is storyteller but in everything I've read I see and feel her within the pages. If you have not read anything by this author, I strongly recommend that you at least give her a chance to tell you a story! Thank you, Nicolette and we await your next story!
Love Nicolette Dane and really love this series. I really can't wait to read the next book.
